1.52

師見僧來，竪起拂子，僧便喝。師云：「喝即不無，且道老僧過在甚麼處？」僧云：「和尚不合將境示人。」師便打。

The Master saw a monk coming, held up his fly-whisk, and the monk immediately shouted. The Master said, "The shout is not absent, but tell me: where is this old monk's fault?"
The monk said, "It was not appropriate for the Upādhyāya to present an object to someone."
The Master immediately struck him.
