師因患脚，僧問訊次，師云：「非人來時不能動，及至人來動不得。且道，佛法中下得什麼語？」僧云：「和尚且喜得較。」師不肯，自別云：「和尚今日似減。」

Because the master suffered from a leg ailment, when a monk inquired after his health, the master said, "When nobody came, I could not move; when someone arrived, I could not move. Tell me: what words from the Buddhadharma can be applied?" The monk said, "May the upādhyāya be glad it is somewhat improved." The master did not accept this, and gave an alternative himself: "The upādhyāya seems to have had a decrease [in ailment] today."
