有大德，問南嶽：「如鏡鑄像，像成後，未審光向甚麼處去？」南嶽云：「如大德，為童子時相貌何在？」師別云：「阿那箇是大德鑄成底像？」

A venerable monk asked Nanyue, "It is like a mirror being cast into an image; after the image is completed, I wonder where the brightness has gone?" Nanyue said, "Venerable One, when you were a boy, where were your features?" The Master gave an alternative reply: "Which one is the image that the Venerable One has cast?"
