「某早來已，承堂頭和尚及大眾延請，一無舉唱。今者又陞此座，難以酬恩。問答已來，實慚荒拙。雖是一心，拈提有異，今古共同，隨機利現，冥應諸緣，運通一切。乾坤大地，各不相依，人人英俊，學不從師。還識師麼？莫交錯認定盤星。久立珍重。」

"Early this morning, having received the invitation from the abbot and the great assembly, I did not expound anything. Now, ascending this seat again, it is difficult to repay their kindness. As for the question-and-answer session just now, I am truly ashamed of my clumsiness. Although it is of one mind, the bringing forward differs; past and present are identical, manifesting benefits in accord with capacities, secretly responding to all conditions, moving freely through everything. Heaven, earth, and the great plains do not depend on one another; each person is outstanding, and learning does not come from a teacher. Do you still recognize the teacher? Do not mistakenly fix your scale's star-mark. Having stood long, take care of yourselves."
