1.87

師云：「好東問西問，忽然言下省悟去，豈不慶快也，不枉廢時光。爾看古人，為一則因緣未明，三千五千里地往返□□苦辛決擇，要明斯事。汝等諸人，事須向前，莫逐日過時，有甚了益，比來行脚擬圖箇什麼？只如百千諸佛出現世間，蓋為一大事因緣。故諸人分上可不知，有老宿上座相共證明。久立，珍重。」

The Master said: "How good to ask east and ask west! If suddenly, beneath the words, you awaken, would that not be joyful and quick? You would not waste your time in vain. Look at the ancients: because a single case of conditions was not clear, they traveled three to five thousand miles back and forth, […] toiling bitterly to discern and choose, determined to clarify this matter. All of you must press forward; do not pass the time day by day—what final benefit is there in that? Traveling on foot heretofore, what were you aiming to achieve? Consider how hundreds of thousands of Buddhas appeared in the world solely for the sake of the one great causal condition. Therefore, for your part, you cannot fail to know it; senior elders and venerable monks bear witness together. You have stood long; take care."
