「外道六師告波斯匿王，萍沙王及十六大國王，一切人天，悉集俱薩羅國，索世尊鬪神通，富蘭那迦葉云：『瞿曇現一，我等現二，乃至百千各各一倍。』佛從十二月十五日，對天人國王一切龍神，現無量神通，至正月十五日，度無數人天。彼外道等，一無所現，被諸國王問云：『六師何不現神通？』外道等悉皆無語，四散馳走，直至死者。正與麼時，對佛現得什麼神通？」代云：「專甲謹退。」

"The six non-Buddhist teachers notified King Prasenajit, King Bimbisāra, and the kings of the sixteen great states, so that all humans and devas assembled in the kingdom of Kosala to demand a contest of supernatural powers with the World-Honored One. Pūraṇa Kāśyapa said: 'If Gautama manifests one, we will manifest two, up to hundreds of thousands, doubling each time.' From the fifteenth day of the twelfth month, before the devas, humans, kings, and all dragons and spirits, the Buddha manifested immeasurable supernatural powers, and by the fifteenth day of the first month, he had delivered countless humans and devas. Those non-Buddhists manifested nothing at all. When questioned by the various kings: 'Why do the six teachers not manifest supernatural powers?' the non-Buddhists were entirely speechless; they scattered and fled in all four directions, some running until they died. At that very time, what supernatural power could they have manifested before the Buddha?" Replacing [the original words], he said: "This humble person respectfully withdraws."
