「十八祖伽耶舍多，至月氏國，鳩摩羅多問：『是何徒眾？』祖云：『是佛弟子。』彼聞佛號，心神竦然，即時閉門。祖扣其門，彼曰：『此舍無人。』祖曰：『道無者誰？』」代云：「洎合忘却。」

"The eighteenth patriarch, Gayāśata, arrived in the kingdom of the Yuezhi. Kumāralāta asked: 'What congregation is this?' The patriarch said: 'Disciples of the Buddha.' Hearing the name of the Buddha, Kumāralāta was awe-struck in mind and spirit, and immediately closed the door. The patriarch knocked on his door. He said: 'There is no one in this house.' The patriarch said: 'Who is the one saying there is no one?'" Replacing [the original words], he said: "I almost forgot!"
