「師子尊者行化於罽賓國，彼有一師，名波梨迦，有少智慧，習小乘禪定，自後出得五眾，各處一方，師子尊者，一一自問，問不語眾曰：『說佛真教，演波羅蜜，誰教不語，而禁佛邪？』」代云：「語亦非通。」

"Venerable Siṃha traveled to convert people in the kingdom of Kaśmīra. There was a teacher there named Varika who had a little wisdom and practiced Hīnayāna dhyāna. Later, five factions arose from him, each dwelling in a separate region. Venerable Siṃha questioned them each in turn. He asked the speechless faction: 'Explaining the Buddha's true teaching and expounding the pāramitās—who taught you not to speak and thereby suppress the Buddha?'" Replacing [the original words], he said: "Speaking is also not penetrating."
