「梁帝殿上坐，大士披納、頂冠、靸履來，帝問師：『是僧耶？』指頭上冠。『是道耶？』指納帔。『是俗耶？』指鞋履。」代云：「大士多能。」

"Emperor Liang sat in the hall. The Mahāsattva [Fu] came wearing a patchwork robe, a cap on his head, and slippers on his feet. The emperor asked the Master, 'Are you a monk?' He pointed to the cap on his head. 'Are you a Daoist?' He pointed to the patchwork robe. 'Are you a layman?' He pointed to his slippers." Replacing [the original words], he said, "The Mahāsattva has many talents."
