「四祖接牛頭融禪師，見菴後虎，祖師作怕勢，牛頭云：『師猶有這箇在。』祖曰：『居士適來見什麼？』」代云：「一似怕。」

"The Fourth Patriarch went to receive Chan Master Niutou Rong and saw a tiger behind the hermitage. The Patriarch made a gesture of fear. Niutou said, 'Does the Master still have this?' The Patriarch said, 'What did the layman see just now?'" Replacing [the original words], he said, "Just as if afraid."
