「百丈捲[簟-日+田]，馬祖歸堂，僧問：『如何是佛法旨趣？』師云：『正是放身命處。』」代云：「功不浪放。」
"When Baizhang rolled up the mat, Mazu returned to the hall. A monk asked, 'What is the purport of the Buddhadharma?' The Master said, 'It is precisely the place to give up body and life.'" Replacing [the original words], he said, "Effort is not spent in vain."
