「光侍者向玄沙道：『師叔學得禪，某甲打鐵船下海去。』玄沙後住，教人持語問侍者：『打得鐵船也未？』」代云：「只見錐頭利，失却鑿頭方。」

"Attendant Guang said to Xuansha, 'If you, Martial Uncle, learn Chan, I will forge an iron ship and set it to sea.' Later, when Xuansha was dwelling [as abbot], he sent someone to ask the attendant, 'Have you forged the iron ship yet?'" Replacing [the original words], he said, "Seeing only the sharpness of the awl's point, losing the squareness of the chisel's head."
