「世尊夏末自恣，文殊三處過夏，迦葉欲擯文殊，拈槌了，見百千萬億文殊，盡其神力，槌不能下。世尊問迦葉：『汝擬白那箇文殊？』迦葉無語。」代云：「三三。」

"When the World-Honored One concluded the summer retreat with the *pravāraṇā*, Mañjuśrī had spent the summer in three places. Kāśyapa wished to expel Mañjuśrī. Having raised his mallet, he saw hundreds of thousands of myriads of kotis of Mañjuśrīs; exhausting all his supernatural power, the mallet could not be brought down. The World-Honored One asked Kāśyapa: 'Which Mañjuśrī do you intend to announce?' Kāśyapa had nothing to say." Replacing [Kāśyapa's words], he said: "Three times three."
