The Master said: "One who speaks the Dharma must possess the ten kinds of wisdom sharing one reality. If one does not possess the ten kinds of wisdom sharing one reality, one cannot distinguish heterodox from orthodox, nor discern black from white; one cannot serve as eyes for humans and devas to resolve right and wrong. It is like a bird flying in the sky with broken wings, or like shooting an arrow at a target with a snapped bowstring: because the bowstring is snapped, the arrow does not hit the target; because the wings are broken, one cannot fly in the sky. When the string is strong and the wings are firm, both target and sky are fully penetrated. What are the ten kinds of wisdom sharing one reality? Let me point them out for you venerable elders: first, sharing the same substance; second, sharing the great matter; third, sharing the common inquiry; fourth, sharing the true aspiration; fifth, sharing universal omnipresence; sixth, sharing full endowment; seventh, sharing gain and loss; eighth, sharing life and death; ninth, sharing the roaring sound; tenth, sharing attainment and entry." He added: "With what person does one share attainment and entry? With whom does one share the roaring sound? What is sharing life and death? What thing shares gain and loss? Which one shares full endowment? What is it that shares universal omnipresence? Who shares the true aspiration? Who can share the common inquiry? Which one shares the great matter? What thing shares the same substance? Is there anyone who can point them out? One who can point them out does not begrudge compassion; one who cannot point them out does not yet possess the eye of study. You must discern this earnestly and know right from wrong. The original face is present right now. You must not stand long. Take care."
