示眾云：「江南之地，春寒秋熱，近日已來，滴水滴凍。」僧問：「滴水滴凍時如何？」師云：「未是衲僧分上事。」云：「如何是衲僧分上事？」師云：「滴水滴凍。」復云：「諸上座，且作麼生會？」良久云：「鴛鴦繡出從君看，莫把金針度與人。」

He instructed the assembly, saying: "In the lands of Jiangnan, spring is cold and autumn is hot. Of late, dripping water forms dripping icicles." A monk asked: "What is it like when dripping water forms dripping icicles?" The Master said: "It is not yet the patch-robed monk's concern." The monk asked: "What is the patch-robed monk's concern?" The Master said: "Dripping water forms dripping icicles." He said further: "Elders, how do you understand this?" After a long pause, he said: "Let the mandarin ducks be embroidered for you to view, / but do not pass the golden needle on to others."
