上堂，舉：「智門祚因僧問如何是般若體，門云：『蚌含明月。』僧云：『如何是般若用？』門云：『兔子懷胎。』」師云：「大小智門，却向言語中明體用。黃龍即不然，如何是般若體？一堆屎。如何是般若用？一堆屎中蟲。」

Ascending the hall, [the Master] brought up [the following]: "Zhimon Zuo was asked by a monk, 'What is the substance of prajñā?' Zhimon said, 'An oyster harboring the bright moon.' The monk asked, 'What is the function of prajñā?' Zhimon said, 'A hare conceiving a fetus.'" The Master said, "Great and small Zhimon clarifies substance and function within spoken words. Huanglong would not say so. What is the substance of prajñā? A pile of dung. What is the function of prajñā? Worms in a pile of dung."
