上堂云：「順捋虎鬚應自顧，倒拈蛇尾任他猜，胡來漢現尋常事，勿將明鏡掛高臺。」下座。

Ascending the hall, he said: "Stroking the tiger's whiskers along the grain, one should watch out for oneself; holding the snake's tail backward, let others guess. A barbarian coming, a Han appearing—an ordinary occurrence; do not hang a bright mirror high upon a terrace." He descended from the seat.
