上堂云：「冬至寒食一百五，即不問。諸上座！半夜穿針一句，作麼生道？若人道得，還我第一籌來；若道不得，彼此失利。」下座。

Ascending the hall, he said: "Leaving aside the winter solstice and the hundred and five days before Cold Food—venerables, how do you say a phrase for threading a needle at midnight? If someone can say it, return my first tally; if you cannot say it, both of us lose out." He descended from the seat.
