溈山水牯骨羸錐，改變毛衣逐四時，童子未知攀角上，麁心便要驀腰騎。忽然弄影無邊際，不覺翻身墮嶮巇，直至起來牛失却，渾身泥中淚雙垂。

Guishan's water buffalo has bones as thin as an awl, / Changing its coat of hair following the four seasons. / The boy does not yet know to climb up by the horns, / But with a reckless mind wants to mount its back straight away. / Suddenly chasing its boundless shadow, / Unawares it turns over and falls down the precipice; / Right until getting up and finding the ox lost, / Completely covered in mud, two lines of tears stream down.
