上堂，云：「雷驚雨勢，萬物發生。」拈起拄杖云：「大眾且道，者箇作麼生？」良久云：「漁翁盡日空垂釣，收取絲綸歸去來。」以拄杖卓禪床一下云：「參！」

Ascending the hall, [the master] said: "Thunder startles the rain's onset; the myriad things burgeon and grow." Holding up his staff, he said: "Great assembly, tell me: what about this?" After a pause, he said: "The old fisherman casts his line in vain the whole day long; / Gathering up the silk cord, let us return home." Striking the meditation bench once with his staff, he said: "Investigate!"
