上堂，舉：「法眼道：『識得橙子，周匝有餘。』雲門道：『識得橙子，天地懸殊。』」師云：「這兩人，一人過船，一人渡水，若點檢得出，許儞具正法眼。」

Ascending the hall, he cited: "Fayan said, 'Recognize the bench, and there is more than enough all around.' Yunmen said, 'Recognize the bench, and heaven and earth are far apart.'" The Master said: "Of these two, one crosses by boat, and one wades the water. If you can discern them, I grant that you possess the true Dharma eye."
