謝首座上堂云：「彌勒看不見，釋迦說不得，恁麼尊貴生，日用無差忒。得不得，識不識，三德六味味逾多，千古萬古為規則。」

Thanking the head seat, he ascended the hall and said: "Maitreya cannot see it; / Śākyamuni cannot speak of it. / So supremely noble, / In daily functioning there is no error. / Attaining or not attaining, / Knowing or not knowing, / Three virtues and six flavours—the flavours grow ever more; / For a thousand ages and ten thousand ages it serves as the rule."
