上堂，舉：「馬大師不安，院主問云：『和尚近日尊位如何？』大師云：『日面佛，月面佛。』」師云：「會麼？如不會，白雲與儞頌出：[髟/?]鬟女子畫娥眉，鸞鏡臺前語似癡，自說玉顏難比並，却來架上著羅衣。」

Ascending the hall, he cited: "Great Master Ma was unwell. The monastery director asked, 'Upādhyāya, how has your venerable health been recently?' The Great Master said, 'Sun-Face Buddha, Moon-Face Buddha.'" The Master said, "Do you understand? If you do not understand, Baiyun will verse-comment on it for you: / A coiffured maiden paints her moth eyebrows; / Before the luan-bird mirror-stand, her words seem foolish. / She herself says her jade-like countenance is hard to match, / Yet comes to the rack to put on silken robes."
