上堂云：「擔水河頭賣，諸人盡笑怪，滯貨沒人猜，一似欠他債，昨夜三更半，石人鬪禮拜。這箇說話，莫道儞理會不得，我也理會不得。」

Ascending the hall, he said: "Carrying water to sell at the riverbank, everyone laughs at the strangeness. Stagnant goods that nobody guesses at, just like owing them a debt. Last night at midnight, the stone people competed in bowing. As for this talk, do not say that you cannot comprehend it—I cannot comprehend it either."
