3.30

上堂舉：「僧問投子：『大藏教中還有奇特事也無？』投子云：『演出大藏教。』」師云：「投子被人一問，直得料掉沒交涉。若是五祖即不然，或有人問：『大藏教中還有奇特事也無？』老僧即向伊道：『作禮而去信受奉行。』然雖如是，與他投子白雲萬里。畢竟如何？要儞諸方眼作麼？」

Ascending the hall, the Master cited: “A monk asked Touzi, ‘Is there still an extraordinary matter within the great canon of teachings or not?’ Touzi said, ‘Expounding the great canon of teachings.’” The Master said: “Touzi, upon receiving this one question, was completely nonplussed and utterly disconnected. If it were Wuzu, it would not be so. If someone asked, ‘Is there still an extraordinary matter within the great canon of teachings or not?’ this old monk would say to him: ‘They made obeisance and departed, faithfully accepting and practicing it.’ Even though it is like this, between him and Touzi there are ten thousand leagues of white clouds. In the end, what is it? Why do you need the eyes of all directions?”
