Ascending the hall, the Master said: “‘The mind turns following myriad circumstances; / Where it turns is truly profound.’ Yunmen said: ‘Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva takes money to buy a sesame cake, lets down her hand and says: “Why, it's a steamed bun!”’ If it is like this, then one is turned following his heels. Wuzu has an occasion of ‘following the flow and recognizing the nature, joyful and forever free of sorrow,’ which I cite for the assembly; perhaps you might suddenly awaken to it.” After a long pause, he called the attendant. The attendant responded. The Master said: “I suffer from foolishness.”
