Ascending the hall, the Master said: “Green vines climbing, straight up to the peak of the cold pine; / White clouds drifting calmly, appearing and disappearing within the great void. / From the nineteenth to the twenty-third, more than ten thousand people came here to attend the gathering in an uproar; now there is only this old fellow seen chattering away by himself. If you say many people is bustle and one person is stillness, it is straightaway ten thousand leagues of white clouds. In the end, what is it? One person is clamorous and bustling; many people are quietly still. It would be better to return to the hall and drink tea.”
