上堂云：「目前無法，意在目前，不是目前法，非耳目之所到。」師拈起拄杖云：「夾山老子甚處去也？何不出來，百草頭與大眾相見？」又卓地一下云：「在者裏。」復云：「咄者野狐精，縮頭去。」便下座。

Ascending the hall, he said: "'Before one's eyes there are no phenomena; the intention is before one's eyes. It is not the phenomena before one's eyes; it is not reached by ears or eyes.'" The Master raised his staff and said: "Where has old man Jiashan gone? Why does he not come out and meet the great assembly on the tips of the hundred grasses?" Striking the ground once more, he said: "He is right here!" He added: "Tut! This wild fox spirit, draw back your head!" He then stepped down from the seat.
