示眾云：「譬若二龍爭珠，有爪牙者不得，或有衲僧問：『既是有爪牙者，為什麼不得？』請大眾為雪竇下一轉語。」

Instructing the assembly, he said: "It is like two dragons contending for a pearl; the one with claws and teeth does not get it. If a patch-robed monk should ask: 'Since he has claws and teeth, why does he not get it?' I invite the great assembly to give a turning phrase for Xuedou."
