舉：「僧問乾峯：『十方薄伽梵，一路涅槃門，路頭在什麼處？』乾峯云：『在者裏。』」師代僧便喝。「復有僧問長慶，長慶云：『問取堂中第二座。』」師代僧云：「錯。」「復有僧問師，師云：『墮坑落塹。』」自代云：「作賊人心虛。」

He brought up: "A monk asked Qianfeng: '"The Bhagavans of the ten directions, the single road to the gate of nirvāṇa"—where is the trailhead?' Qianfeng said: 'It is right here.'" The Master shouted on the monk's behalf. "Again, a monk asked Changqing, and Changqing said: 'Go ask the second seated in the hall.'" The Master said on the monk's behalf: "Wrong!" "Again, a monk asked the Master [Xuedou], and the Master said: 'Falling into a pit and dropping into a ditch.'" On his own behalf, he said: "The thief's heart feels guilty."
