僧問：「只在目前，為甚麼再三不覩？」師云：「截耳臥街。」云：「黑豆未生芽時如何？」師云：「餧驢餧馬。」云：「生芽後如何？」師云：「透水透沙。」

A monk asked: "It is right before our eyes; why do we fail to see it again and again?" The Master said: "Cut off your ears and lie in the street." The monk asked: "How is it before the black beans have sprouted?" The Master said: "Feed them to the donkeys, feed them to the horses." The monk said: "How is it after they have sprouted?" The Master said: "Penetrating water, penetrating sand."
