2.19

有良周上座到，師作瞌睡勢，僧云：「新到相看。」師不應，僧又云：「新到相看。」師高聲云：「阿誰？」僧云：「新到。」師云：「已知，參堂去。」僧云：「某甲是大龍受業。」師喝云：「漆桶，誰識爾？」僧便近前人事，師云：「好好禮拜著，相看了。」師云：「還識宗首座麼？」僧云：「是師兄。」師云：「爾為什麼鈍致他？」僧云：「和尚休得也。」師云：「踏破草鞋漢，不能打得爾，且坐喫茶。」

Senior Monk Liangzhou arrived. The master assumed the posture of dozing off. The monk said, "A newcomer pays his respects." The master did not respond. The monk said again, "A newcomer pays his respects." The master called out in a loud voice, "Who is it?" The monk said, "A newcomer." The master said, "Understood; go to the monks' hall." The monk said, "I was ordained under Dalong." The master shouted, "Lacquer bucket, who recognizes you?" The monk then stepped forward to make formal greetings. The master said, "Make your prostrations properly; we have seen each other." The master said, "Do you know Head Monk Zong?" The monk said, "He is my elder Dharma brother." The master said, "Why do you make him look foolish?" The monk said, "Upādhyāya, you may stop now." The master said, "You fellow with worn-out straw sandals, I cannot beat you; sit down and drink tea."
