舉：「僧侍立保福次，福云：『爾得與麼麁心。』福拈一塊土與僧：『爾拋向門外著。』僧拋了却來云：『甚處是某甲麁心？』福云：『我見爾築著磕著，所以道爾麁心。』」師云：「然則者僧被保福熱瞞。爭奈真不掩偽、曲不藏直，雪竇將今視古，於理不甘。是爾者一隊漢，忽僧堂裏來、寮舍內出，築著磕著亦乃不知，近來麁心轉盛，我若放過，便見諸方檢責。」師驀拈拄杖下座，大眾一時走散。

He raised: "A monk was standing in attendance by Baofu; Fu said, 'How can you have such a coarse mind?' Fu picked up a clod of earth and gave it to the monk: 'Toss it outside the gate.' After the monk tossed it, he returned and said, 'Where is this one's coarse mind?' Fu said, 'I saw you bumping and stumbling against things, which is why I said you have a coarse mind.'" The Master said, "Although that was so, this monk was fooled by Baofu. Nevertheless, the true does not conceal the false, and the crooked does not hide the straight; when Xuedou looks at antiquity through today, in principle I am not content. As for you crowd of fellows, suddenly coming from the monks' hall, emerging from within the dormitories, you bump and stumble without even knowing it; recently your coarse minds have become increasingly prominent. If I let you off, we would soon see the various quarters examine and reprimand us." The Master abruptly took up his staff and descended from the seat; the great assembly scattered and ran all at once.
