2.76

上堂云：「一不定，二不可，上下四維，春風包裹，桃華杏華鬪開，柳條桑條憋破。可憐昔日靈雲，剛道迷逢達磨。」師拈起拄杖云：「靈雲鼻孔穿了也。」

Ascending the hall, the Master said, “One is not fixed; two is unacceptable. Above, below, and in the four cardinal points, wrapped in the spring wind: peach blossoms and apricot blossoms vie to open; willow branches and mulberry branches burst open. Pitiful was Lingyun of old, who stubbornly said that in delusion he met Bodhidharma.” The Master held up his staff and said, “Lingyun’s nostrils have been pierced!”
