舉：「僧問西堂和尚：『有問有答賓主歷然，無問無答時如何？』堂云：『怕爛却去那。』僧問長慶：『有問有答賓主歷然，無問無答時如何？』慶云：『相逢盡道休官去，林下何曾見一人？』」師云：「何不與本分草料？」

He brought up: "A monk asked Upādhyāya Xitang, 'With question and answer, guest and host are distinct; how is it when there is neither question nor answer?' Tang said, 'Are you afraid it will rot away?' The monk asked Changqing, 'With question and answer, guest and host are distinct; how is it when there is neither question nor answer?' Qing said, 'When meeting, all say they will resign their posts; beneath the grove, when has one person ever been seen?'" The Master said, "Why not give him his proper provender?"
