3.15

舉：「僧問睦州：『高揖釋迦不拜彌勒時如何？』州云：『昨日有人問，趕出了也。』僧云：『和尚恐某甲不實。』州云：『拄杖不在，苕帚柄聊與三十。』」師云：「睦州只有受壁之心，且無割城之意。」

He brought up: "A monk asked Muzhou, 'How is it when one bows high to Śākyamuni and does not pay homage to Maitreya?' Zhou said, 'Yesterday someone asked, and I chased him out.' The monk said, 'The Upādhyāya fears I am not genuine.' Zhou said, 'My staff is not here; with a broom handle I'll give you thirty [blows] anyway.'" The Master said, "Muzhou only had the mind to accept the jade disc; he had no intention of ceding cities."
