3.35

舉：「僧問智門和尚：『如何是佛？』云：『踏破草鞋赤脚走。』僧云：『如何是佛向上事？』云：『拄杖頭上挑日月。』」師云：「千兵易得，一將難求。」

He cited: "A monk asked Upādhyāya Zhimen, 'What is the Buddha?' He said, 'Wearing out straw sandals, walking barefoot.' The monk said, 'What is the matter beyond the Buddha?' He said, 'On the tip of the staff, carrying the sun and the moon.'" The Master said, "A thousand soldiers are easy to find, but a single general is hard to seek."
