3.65

舉：「僧辭大隨，隨問：『甚處去？』云：『峨眉禮拜普賢去。』隨竪起拂子云：『文殊、普賢總在者裏。』僧畫一圓相拋於背後，隨云：『侍者，將一貼茶與者僧。』雲門別云：『西天斬頭截臂，者裏自領出去。』」師云：「殺人刀，活人劍，具眼底辯取。」

He cited: "A monk took leave of Dasui. Dasui asked, 'Where are you going?' The monk said, 'To Mount Emei to pay homage to Samantabhadra.' Dasui held up his whisk and said, 'Mañjuśrī and Samantabhadra are both right here.' The monk drew a circle and tossed it behind his back. Dasui said, 'Attendant, bring a packet of tea to this monk.' Yunmen provided an alternate phrase: 'In the Western Heavens heads are cut off and arms are severed; here, lead yourself out.'" The Master said, "The sword that kills people, the sword that gives people life—let those with eyes discern it."
