4.104

四祖到牛頭後庵，見虎便作怕勢，牛頭云：「和尚猶有這箇在？」祖云：「適來見什麼？」代云：「但亦作怕勢。」又代云：「洎合放過。」

The Fourth Patriarch arrived at Niutou's rear hermitage; seeing a tiger, he assumed a frightened posture. Niutou said, "Does the upādhyāya still have this?" The Patriarch said, "What did you just see?" On his behalf [the Master] said, "Simply also assume a frightened posture." He also said on his behalf, "I almost let you off."
