麻谷持錫到國師處，振錫而立，國師云：「汝既如是，何用見吾？」谷又振錫一下。別云：「洎不到此。」

Magu held his khakkhara and came to the National Teacher; he shook his khakkhara and stood there. The National Teacher said, "Since you are already like this, what need is there to see me?" Magu again shook his khakkhara once. In an alternative [the Master] said, "I almost did not come here."
