4.130

雲門示眾云：「世尊生下，一手指天一手指地，周行七步目顧四方云：『天上天下唯我獨尊。』我當時若見，一棒打殺與狗喫，貴得天下太平。」法眼云：「雲門氣勢甚大，要且無佛法道理。」老宿代云：「將謂無人證明。」別云：「鉤在不疑之地。」

Yunmen addressed the assembly, saying, "When the World-Honoured One was born, he pointed one hand to heaven and one hand to earth, walked seven paces in a circle, looked around in the four directions, and said, 'Above heaven and below heaven, I alone am the honored one.' Had I seen him at that time, I would have beaten him to death with a single stick and given him to the dogs to eat, to value peace and tranquility throughout the world." Fayan said, "Yunmen's vigor is immensely great, but basically there is no Buddhadharma principle in it." A veteran elder on his behalf said, "I supposed there was no one to bear witness." In an alternative [the Master] said, "The fishhook is in a place of no suspicion."
