示眾云：「不許夜行，投明須到，何似生？」代云：「孟常門下。」或云：「一筆句下，不甘底出來。」代云：「只宜拄杖子。」

Instructing the assembly, he said: "'Night travel is not permitted; one must arrive by daybreak'—how is that?" Speaking on their behalf, he said: "Under the gate of Mengchang." Or he would say: "Crossed out with a single stroke of the brush—let whoever is dissatisfied come forward!" Speaking on their behalf, he said: "Only the staff is fitting."
