示眾云：「三千里外還且如何？」代云：「過。」或云：「佛未出世時，一人人鼻孔遼天，出世後為什麼杳無消息？」代云：「賊不打貧兒家。」問僧云：「賊不打貧兒家，因什麼却打？」代云：「須到如此。」

Instructing the assembly, he said: "What about 'three thousand li away'?" Speaking on their behalf, he said: "Passed." Or he would say: "Before the Buddha appeared in the world, each person's nostrils towered to the heavens. After he appeared in the world, why was there no news at all?" Speaking on their behalf, he said: "A thief does not burgle a poor man's house." He asked a monk: "'A thief does not burgle a poor man's house'—why then was it burgled?" Speaking on their behalf, he said: "It must come to this."
