4.91

宋太宗皇帝，因事六問，當時無人奏對，因入寺見僧看經，問云：「看什麼經？」對云：「仁王經。」帝云：「既是寡人經，為甚在卿手裏？」師代云：「皇天無親，唯德是輔。」

Emperor Taizong of the Song, because of an occasion, asked six questions, but at the time no one could respond to him. When he entered a temple and saw a monk reading a sutra, he asked: "What sutra are you reading?" The monk answered: "The Benevolent King Sutra." The emperor said: "Since it is Our sutra, why is it in your hands?" On [his] behalf the master said: "Imperial Heaven has no partial affections; it assists only virtue."
