4.90

師一日為首座寫真，師云：「既是首座，為什麼却有兩箇？」首座云：「爭之不足。」師云：「儞問我，我與儞道。」首座擬問，師云：「雪竇門下。」

One day the master was having a portrait painted of the head monk. The master said: "Since you are the head monk, why are there instead two of you?" The head monk said: "Contending over it is not enough." The master said: "Ask me, and I will tell you." As the head monk was about to ask, the master said: "Under the gate of Xuedou."
