When Emperor Xianzong of the Tang welcomed the relics, five-colored light manifested; all the hundred ministers offered congratulations, but Han Yu alone stood upright. The emperor asked, "All the officials offer congratulations; why do you not congratulate Us, Minister?" Yu said, "Your servant has previously read the scriptures: the light of a Buddha does not have the marks of blue, yellow, red, white, and so on; this is the light of a divine dragon carrying and aiding [the relics]."
