The ancient temple on Linglong Crag
Surpasses the realms of Ming and Yue.
The eye of the sea communicates with chilled springs;
The heart of heaven towers over precipitous ridges.
Having once wandered there, my interest was not exhausted;
Looking far ahead in thought, my spirit suddenly congealed.
That gentleman is a true hero of awakening;
Living as neighbors, we are not lonely and aloof.
I love to cross over cross-currents—
Who says troubling anxieties are walled off?
I love to restore the ruined guidelines—
How could it be merely the quieting of floating sense-organs?
Perched on the wutong, an auspicious omen of nine markings;
Chasing the wind, a swift steed with ten shadows.
Seeing that I do not contend for supremacy,
With whom would I idly compete in tea?
Having seized the opportunity, you are already magnanimous;
Shining on the world, it is not murky and dark.
Stand firm to become the teacher of kings,
And crown the heads of all the three thousand.
