上堂：「孤逈峭巍巍，始終活鱍鱍，喚作禪道祖佛，眼中著屑；不喚作禪道祖佛，掘地覓天。還有得入者麼？從他千古萬古黑漫漫，填溝塞壑無人會。」下座。

Ascending the hall, the Master said: "Solitary and towering, lofty and steep; from beginning to end, actively alive. If you call it Chan, the Way, the Patriarchs, or the Buddha, it is putting grit in your eyes; if you do not call it Chan, the Way, the Patriarchs, or the Buddha, it is digging into the earth to search for heaven. Is there still anyone who manages to enter? Let it be pitch-black for a thousand ages and ten thousand ages; filling the ditches and blocking the gullies, no one understands." He stepped down from the seat.
