舉：「歸宗示眾云：『吾今欲說禪，諸子總近前。』大眾進前，宗云：『汝聽觀音行，善應諸方所。』僧問：『如何是觀音行？』宗彈指云：『諸人還聞麼？』僧云：『聞。』宗云：『一隊漢向這裏覓箇什麼？』以拄杖打趁，呵呵大笑歸方丈。」

He cited: "Guizong instructed the assembly, saying: 'I now wish to explain Chan; all of you come forward.' The assembly came forward. Guizong said: 'Listen to Avalokiteśvara's practice, skilfully responding to every quarter.' A monk asked: 'What is Avalokiteśvara's practice?' Guizong snapped his fingers and said: 'Do you people still hear it?' The monk said: 'I hear it.' Guizong said: 'A bunch of fellows—what are you looking for here?' Striking them with his staff to drive them away, he laughed loudly, 'Haha!', and returned to the Abbot's quarters."
