上堂云：「棒頭取證，撤土撒沙，喝下承當，承虛接響。向上向下，轉更顢頇，說妙談玄，和泥合水。這一片田地，分付來多時也。平白欺人；盡大地撮來如粟米粒大，掉棒打月。佛祖凡聖拈向一邊，總不依倚時如何？紅霞穿碧海，白日遶須彌。」下座。

Ascending the hall, the Master said, "Attaining realization at the staff's head is tossing dirt and scattering sand; undertaking it under a shout is chasing emptiness and catching echoes. Transcendent or downward, it becomes all the more muddled; talking of the wondrous and discussing the mystery is mixing mud with water. This patch of land has been handed over for a long time. Plainly deceiving people: gathering up the entire earth, it is like the size of a millet grain; swinging a staff to strike the moon. Buddhas and patriarchs, ordinary beings and sages are tossed to one side—what is it like when relying on nothing at all? Red clouds pierce the emerald sea; / The white sun circles Sumeru." He stepped down from the seat.
